Students and teachers must contend with overcrowded classrooms, rundown buildings and facilities, outdated curricula, and inadequate training for teachers, in addition to school closures and movement restrictions. A growing population and limited financial resources present further obstacles to improving the Palestinian educational system.
UPA-supported educational projects in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and Lebanon provide communities with modern educational resources such as libraries, scientific laboratories, computer centers, improved classroom facilities and qualified, well-trained teachers.

UPA's University Scholarship Program
When it comes to higher education, improbable dreams can become a reality through UPA's Scholarship Program, providing funds for tuition to hundreds of qualified students attending universities in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. UPA seeks to ensure that the talent of outstanding students does not go to waste because their families are unable to afford their educational expenses.
UPA supports study at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, in a range of fields. We award scholarships only for study in the West Bank and Gaza, as we seek to strengthen the institutional capacity of Palestinian colleges and universities in addition to providing opportunities for individual students to excel.
UPA awards scholarships on the basis of academic performance, financial need and field of study. Except in rare cases, only students with a minimum 3.0 (or 80%) grade point average are considered for scholarships. Other factors that influence our selection process include geographic distribution (we support study in all areas of the West Bank and Gaza), gender balance and the foreseeable impact that a student could have on his/her community after graduation.
Scholarship application is now available.
Applications are currently under review and all applicants will be notified by their universities in the month of June. If your university has not notified you of the status of your application by July 1, please email scholarships@helpupa.com.
