Seattle Group Funds Scholarships
March 18, 2008 — The Seattle-based Palestinian Heritage Group has generously donated proceeds from a March 8 fundraiser to support the college educations of four Palestinian women in the West Bank and Gaza. The scholarships were made possible by the generous contributions of more than 50 attendees at last week's event, which honored the Group's founder, Mrs. Suad Ziadeh.  More

Marathoners Raise Education Funds
March 14, 2008 — Iqraa (“Read”) is forming a team to run the Marine Corp Marathon and Baltimore Running Festival half-marathon next October and, as a member of the Marathon Charity Partners, to raise funds for UPA education programs. This will be the first Marathon team in the Washington-Baltimore metro area formed specifically to support Palestinian education. It’s not too late to join! More

Gaza Event Inspires Community
March 13, 2008 — A diverse audience from the Washington, D.C. metro area opened their hearts and their wallets last Saturday night to fight the twin crises of hunger and poverty, after learning about the man-made disaster of hunger in Gaza and D.C. They gave over $2,000 in a show of solidarity, with many committing to volunteer time in the future. More

Update: Feeding Gaza's Neediest
March 10, 2008 — Many of our supporters have asked us whether we are still able to provide assistance to the people of Gaza. The answer is yes, and an ongoing food distribution effort with the United Nations Relief Works Agency is one example of how. UPA Moves to Help Rebuild Clinics
March 4, 2008 — On February 28, the main clinic and pharmacy of the Palestinian Medical Relief Society in Gaza was bombed, obliterating the already meager stocks of medicine and life-support equipment. Gone, too, is one of two ambulances serving tens of thousands of Palestinian refugees as well as a rehabilitation center for handicapped people. UPA today announced that it has made an emergency grant to help its longtime partner PMRS in the rebuilding effort.  More
