Dr. Najat Khelil

Dr. Najat Arafat Khelil is a scientist who has devoted more than twenty years to leading and managing national organizations addressing issues related to the Middle East with emphases on conflict management. The first woman in the State of Texas to receive a Ph.D. in nuclear physics in 1974, she has taught at the University of Algiers, George Washington University and Shaw University. She has demonstrated her commitment to the advancement of the Arab cause in the United States as a founder, president or advisor for several organizations, including the Union of Palestinian American Women, the Palestinian American Congress, the Arab Women’s Council, the United Holy Land Fund, and ROOTS, the Palestinian Youth Organization. As a prominent member of the Arab American community, she has been invited to policy discussions and plenary sessions with staff from the White House and the U.S. State Department. She has also been a member of Arab American delegations to meet with high officials in the U.S. and abroad.
